YOU CAN ADVERTISE YOUR IPO
One of the hardest thing to do is find investors for your company. Going public means just that. You can solicit investors from the general public, but, in general, only after you have filed your registration statement. Of course, any advertisement must have required disclaimers. One of those disclaimers which is critical is that offers can only be made through the prospectus (for an S-1) or offering document (for Regulation A+). In addition, actual sales cannot be made until the SEC clears your document, and for Reg A+, the investor has to have your offering circular for 48 hours before you can accept the investment.
Who knows your company better than your customers? When you have a public market, that is, liquidity for the shares of your company, people at least have an exit strategy which is possible.
